About B & C Aquatics
B&C Aquatics Limited has been teaching Aquatics Excellence for more than 30 years.
With two locations, one on Brock Road in south Pickering and the second on Port Union Road in east Scarborough, B&C Aquatics offers swimming lessons, water safety and life saving skills to infants, children, youths, and adults in the Greater Toronto Area and Durham Region. B&C Aquatics teaches Red Cross Swim courses for all swimming skill levels through B&C Aquatics' own unique program. Each student progresses at his or her own pace in structured lessons without the use of swim aids, and with one-on-one, in water instruction. The student completes a Red Cross Swim level when the individual's skills are perfected, not when the class duration is completed.
B&C Aquatics offers small, four student, group classes as well as private swimming lessons. Each class of four students has a professional Red Cross Swim trained instructor, an assistant, as well as a supervisor. Our student to instructor ratio is better than 4:2 in our group classes. Further, all B&C Aquatics' instructors undergo an additional 100 hours of training in the B&C Aquatics' instruction method by our most senior staff. Lastly, our instructors are in the water with our students each lesson.
Be Smart! Is Your Child Water Safe?
Water safety is a life skill. It can be argued, water safety is a human right. Whether you are enjoying a family picnic at the beach, a sunny afternoon in the backyard pool, or a warm bath before bedtime, water is a huge part of our lives. Being water smart gives us the ability to enjoy water safely no matter our age.
Infant to Senior: It is never too early or too late to learn how to swim!
Babies and toddlers are born fearless of water. B&C Aquatics' early motor skill development and breath retention lessons help to develop a firm base for safe water skills in young children.
B&C Aquatics' children's classes further advance breath retention skills while teaching swimming stroke basics and the introduction to water safety.
Youth swim lessons at B&C Aquatics are designed to perfect and advance swimming skills while introducing more of the complex strokes. Advanced water-safety at B&C Aquatics is taught in specialized classes so as not to deter from in-water lessons.
While this is a generalization of the average progression of a B&C Aquatics student, each swimmer is different, and each is evaluated to determine the best level to start in the B&C Aquatics program.
Adult swimming lessons available.
B&C Aquatics recognizes that adult aquatic skills and comfort come in many different degrees. An adult may have had an experience which has made him or her shy away from water. Likewise, an adult may wish to perfect swimming skills learned as a child. B&C Aquatics offers an adult focused program with one-on-one instruction in a comfortable, accepting, and safe venue.
B&C Aquatics offers classes for all ages and skill levels.
B&C Aquatics' unique program structure and instructor-to-student ratio allows us to proudly integrate special needs swimmers within our groups as well as private lessons. Infant, child, youth, or adult; swimmers with special needs can count on a safe, active, and fun aquatics learning experience at B&C Aquatics.
Our pools are kept at a comfortable 33 degrees Celsius (92 degrees Fahrenheit) and the deck atmosphere temperature is maintained at 32 degrees Celsius (90 degrees Fahrenheit). Both of our Brock Road and Port Union Road facilities are wheelchair accessible, feature one-way glass viewing lounges and private family changing rooms.
Royal Life Saving Society certification programs.
B&C Aquatics offers Royal Life Saving Society certifications in Bronze Star, Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross, and National Lifeguarding NLS. Emergency first aid, standard first aid and CPR courses are also available. These courses are run under the B&C Aquatics format. This ensures our graduates are of the highest and most advanced skill calibre in comparison to a standard Red Cross program. Just like our Red Cross Swim classes, a student completing the Royal Life Saving Society certifications will progress at the pace which they set.
A little bragging is in order.
We have earned the right to brag a little: Many of our students go on to lifeguard, instruct, compete, and play competitive team water sports. Most of our 70 B&C Aquatics Instructors were once B&C Aquatics students!
