About Jacob
Born and raised in Uxbridge, Jacob Mantle has joined Canada's Conservatives and is serious about securing the future for the riding of Pickering-Uxbridge. The accomplished international trade lawyer is the descendent of local farmers, the first of which settled in the Goodwood area of Uxbridge Township during the early 1800s. Jacob's fondest memories are helping his parents in the hayfields of their hobby farm.
After completing his undergraduate studies in political science, Jacob joined the office of former MPP John O'Toole as a Legislative Assistant at Queen's Park. Inspired by Mr. O'Toole, the Queen's University graduate went on to pursue municipal politics and became the youngest elected Municipal Councillor in Uxbridge history at the age of 21.
As Ward 4 Councillor, Jacob chaired the township's Sustainability, Watershed and Conservation Committee and also spearheaded the digitization of council meetings and agendas for easier access by the public. He played an instrumental role in the creation and construction of the Uxbridge Rotary Skate Park. After completing his term, Jacob returned to Queen's University to attend law school and to pursue a career in the private sector as an international trade lawyer.
For the past three years, Jacob has worked in the Toronto office of Canada's largest law firm, Borden Ladner Gervais LLP. Jacob's legal practice focuses on international trade issues affecting Canadian and international businesses including customs compliance and cross-border movement of goods, anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigations, government procurement, sanctions, exports controls, free trade agreements, and WTO matters.
Jacob believes in personal freedom and limited government. You and your family, not Ottawa or Justin Trudeau, should make decisions on how to live your life and spend your money.
Jacob is concerned by Trudeau's out-of-control spending, an existential threat to our future and cherished social programs. It's also an unfair intergenerational wealth transfer that will leave our children paying our debts and cause inflation, eroding our ability to pay for everyday essentials. As your MP, Jacob will work to empower individuals, support families, and rein in government spending.
Jacob is married to Megan Mantle, a mental health specialist, working in the emergency rooms of hospitals in the GTA. Together, they live in Uxbridge with their two rescued cats, Tigger and Ghost.
Megan and Jacob attend St. Paul's Presbyterian in Leaskdale. They look forward to a lifetime of continued service to their friends and neighbours across Pickering-Uxbridge.
