Monique Hughes is a small business owner and dedicated activist who has fought to make our community more inclusive and equitable. She knows we can build an economy that works for everyone day people -- where no one is left behind. The Lead Executive Coordinator of BrAIDS for AIDS, she's helped promote HIV/AIDS awareness and access to resources for African Caribbean and Black communities across Ontario.
A small business owner, Monique saw local businesses and workers struggle during the pandemic. While Justin Trudeau was helping Canada's 1% make record profits, everyday people fell behind. She knows Canada's pandemic recovery needs to work for regular people -- not billionaires.
Monique believes we can create a pandemic recovery that works for you. She knows we can make life more affordable and reduce costs on prescription drugs, child care, and housing. Monique will fight for a sustainable recovery that tackles the climate emergency by setting ambitious emission targets and building good jobs, with livable wages.
Monique understands the challenges everyday people in our community face. She has always fought for culturally appropriate solutions that meet the needs of our diverse community. A proud supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement, Monique knows we can create a future where racism, discrimination, and homophobia have no place in Canada. She knows diverse voices need to be at the table and she's ready to be a strong voice for Ajax. Monique is ready to listen to our community, and fight for you in Ottawa, as your Member of Parliament.
