About George David
I have been a resident of Pickering Ward 2 for the past 29 years living in the Glendale area.
I retired from Ontario Power Generation as the Director of Nuclear Controllership. In this position I was overseeing an annual Operating and Capital budget of approximately $1.0 billion.
I have a Bachelor of Mathematics degree from the University of Waterloo and spent my entire career in finance and accounting. In addition I was a member of the Canadian Armed forces serving for 20 years. I obtained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and commanded the 48th Highlanders of Canada.
My skills include Business and Project Planning, Business Process improvement, Leadership and Mentoring, and Strategic Planning.
I am running for City Council to bring back financial and planning accountability, and transparency to the position. With Pickerings growth to rise to 150,000 by 2036 oversight of new developments and projects will be paramount.
My top priorities include:
1 Ensure that all resident development opportunities do not exceed the present height restrictions that are listed in the City's official plan.
2. Ensure property tax dollars are spent wisely and challenge the annual budgeting process to ensure Value for Operating and Capital expenditures.
3. Stop the potential sale of Elexicon shares.
4. Review the low income and senior's program for expanded eligibility.
5 Attract new industrial and commercial developments.
