About Serge
I have decided to run as French School trustee because I believe in Francophone education, my kids are in a French public school. Speaking French is a strong heritage that I want to pass to my children and I also want to allow as many parents to do so. A well run school board will definitely help.
In all my previous and current "political " roles, I was always available to listen to what the people in all the French communities had to say and there are a lot ! (close to 30 different counries)I did my best to answer their requests and questions. I will still be as available for all the francophone communities in Durham, regarding education matters.
My top three issues I will focus on would be to make the French public schools more visible to the Durham population; Maintain a focus on student achievement, well being and equity; Participate in making decisions that benefits the board entire jurisdiction while representing the interests of their constituents
In my humble opinion, the people in schools who have the greatest impact on the mental health of students are the teachers and if they also experience mental health problems, as many do, they cannot help the students.
A large majority of school staff are mentally burnt due to workload and lack of franco teachers and therefore cannot help their student, I think CS Viamonde should help their school staff with mental health in order to help and support students.
