About Shaheen

Shaheen has worked in the corporate environment for 30+ years and raised and educated in London, England.



He moved to Canada in the mid-seventies, and has called Durham Region his home for 25 years. Shaheen is a proud recipient of a 2014 Civic Award, presented by the City of Pickering in recognition of his significant contributions to the City.





His wife, three children (and his cat), share his passions, and are also actively involved in serving our community. Shaheen's vision for Pickering is to become a thriving community that will attract small businesses and corporations to start or expand their business, resulting to job creation and added services for residents.





Shaheen will continue to advocate to build affordable and accessible facilities, while maintaining and protecting the City's natural heritage and rural composition.





In the 2022 Budget, he assisted to have the City of Pickering having the lowest tax increase amongst Durham municipalities and second lowest budget levy increase in 20 years! Shaheen will continue to connect residents within the community, to express their voices and concerns and expand activities that make the City of Pickering a better place to live, environmentally, socially and economically.
