Our kids have lost some months in learning and they are behind according to Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table findings. The Minister of Education has pledged $26.6B to the Plan to Catch Up.

As your school board trustee I am committed to holding the government accountable to this pledge and ensuring the needs of the students are met through this budget. 

Teachers also play a pivotal role in the education of our children. My father was a teacher for 35 years. Many times I witnessed his past students testify of the positive influence he had made on their career choices and their high school experience. This is why I believe  teachers need the supports and resources to do their job effectively. 

I believe elected politicians and board trustees should be transparent and accountable to the public. Transparency, collaboration and accountability are key to getting students back on track and regain the lost months in their eduction.  

I believe education is a fundamental right which includes the right to attend school and to have education delivered to the student in a way that allows them the opportunity to reach their full potential.

I have an adult daughter who had learning challenges throughout her schooling so I know what it's like to fight for your child's needs. It is every parents desire for their child to reach their full potential.

Many of the skills I have developed over the years are transferrable to the role of School Board trustee and as your representative I will always vote for the best interests of the children, so they are able to learn in a safe environment and to receive every opportunity.
